Five Logo Designs

So as part of my future career as a concept artist I feel like it would good a good idea to have my own logo that I can use to advertise my services, so before I start to create my own I am going to look at 5 other famous ones to see what those company and franchises have done with their logos.

Mortal Kombat

I really enjoy the use of a simple shape and colour scheme with a more complicated but recognisable and unique shape in the centre, the franchise loo could have been anything, as the fighting game could have had a fist, an eye anything, but thinking outside the box allowed the company to come up with this great design.

the gradation effect does a great job at hiding in multiple colours and giving the effect of fire and danger, showing that these games are not for kids.

Pepsi

The Pspsi logo is one of the most simple ones I have seen for something so popular, so because of this I now understand that the logo is not supposed to be the wow factor, it is supposed to remind people of the wow factor that the company/francise/product has, so a good logo design must match that particular subject.

The Logo itself is very basic simply using a circle and two other shapes in a distinctive way, you could easily remove the word pepsi and still know what the logo is for.

 Rockstar Games
The Rockstar Games uses only 3 colours as is a trend so far with the logos I have seen, 4 or less seems to be appropriate, but the Rockstar Games logo also uses a single initial and a star, this gives viewers a reminder of the name R for rock and the Star shape for Star, Rockstar Games, the colour in the background I have also seen change based on the game it appears in, as the recognisable part is the shape not the colour.

Snapchat

The snapchat logo is very interesting, I still have no idea what it is supposed to be, a ghost? not sure but regardless the reason it is a good logo is because when I was searching for logos to talk about, I still knew what it was for, this explains that the shape is extremely unique,

Once again the logo only uses 3 colours, I have noticed that alot of white and black is used for high contrast so the artists can direct the viewers eyes and attract attention to a particular part of the logo.

Starbucks

The Starbucks logo in my opinion is interesting, but I don't like it, and the reason is there is just too much stuff going on, I cant even understand what is happening in the logo, but I do like how the shapes bend a curve to give the impression of a secondary shape, I see a star in there which reminds the viewer of the name of the organisation.

The use of two colours is fairly boring to me, the shapes are attempting to carry the design, I feel like the symmetry is supposed to make it look more like a crest then a logo,

Design bullet-points
  • 1-4 Colours
  • Basic Shapes
  • Possible Symmetry
  • Simple not Basic
